Unduly Forgotten Performance-Tuning Hero: PL/SQL Hierarchical Profiler [CON2108]
Monday September 16 | 02:45:00 PM | Moscone West – Room 3007E
Presented by Michael Rosenblum (Dulcian Inc)
A number of polls taken during various PL/SQL-related presentations paint a very strange picture: one of the most-critical FREE server-side performance-tuning tools is almost totally unknown! If you ask basic questions such as, “How much time is spent on routine A?” or “How often is function B called?” most developers would start to hand-code their own solutions instead of utilizing the Oracle PL/SQL hierarchical profiler (HProf). This is not because the provided functionality is disliked, but the fact is that most developers are simply not aware of its existence. This session is an attempt to alter this trend and re-introduce HProf to a wider audience.
