PeopleSoft Company Directory and Organization Chart are two features that fall under the Core HR license. Company Directory is an easy way to search for employees based on a large variety of criteria, view personal and job details, and take related actions. The Organization Chart within Company Directory can visually display hierarchies and also shows personal and job details and allows related actions.
A recent presentation from Julie Alonso, Product Management Director, and Jeanne Wagner, Senior Principal Applications Engineer, from Oracle, covered how to create and use Company Directory and the Organization Chart, discussed recently delivered enhancements to both and upcoming roadmap items.
Using Company Directory
Company Directory can be easily accessed from Employee Self Service, Manager Self Service or the Navigation Bar. It will display recently viewed employees and employees that have been marked as favorites. The powerful search also lets users search for employees based on various criteria like name, email, phone number, location, etc.
Within the Company Directory, users can view and edit their personal information, reporting structure, dotted line reports and managers, direct reports, peers and teams. The Organization Chart is another popular feature within the Company Directory.
Using the Organization Chart
The Organization Chart can visually display hierarchies within your organization. It will show who you report to, who reports to you and dotted line reports and managers. You can also drill down into other employees to view the Organization Chart from their point of view. Depending on your security access, you may be able to take related actions on other employees, such as approving time off requests.
The Organization Chart now has a vertical scroll instead of a horizontal scroll to make the hierarchies easier to view. Since the Company Directory and Organization Chart are Fluid, they are also mobile friendly, so it is easy for users to pull up information on their phones or tablets.
Recently Delivered Updates
There have been several recent updates that were delivered in PI 27, including:
- The ability to export and print the Organization Chart.
- Option to show peers in the Organization Chart.
- A more user-friendly view with vertical scroll.
- Increased number of search return results.
- The ability to display different fields on the Organization Chart and profile of Company Directory.
Roadmap Items
There are also several items on the roadmap for Company Directory and the Organization Chart. These roadmap items include the ability to show vacant positions in the Organization Chart, the ability to show the Job Title in Company Directory and the ability for HR administrators to export the entire Organization Chart.
