Enhancing Operational Efficiencies: A Streamlined Approach to Shipping

Presented by:
David Miller, Printpack, Inc.

Abstract:

Abstract: Printpack, a leading flexible and rigid packaging manufacturer based in Atlanta, identified a critical need to enhance its core manufacturing and distribution processes following years of JDE E1 implementation across all facilities. A key area for improvement was the shipping process, which was manual, time-intensive, and prone to errors, particularly due to the company’s complex license plate number (LPN) environment. To address these operational challenges, Printpack established three primary objectives: Objective 1: Develop a flexible shipping solution allowing warehouse personnel to dynamically manage LPNs on loads, thereby eliminating the need for reverse shipping. Objective 2: Implement a system for on-demand generation of all shipping documents to streamline operations and improve efficiency. Objective 3: Introduce automation to boost user productivity, minimize human errors, and mitigate operational risks. By focusing on these objectives, Printpack aimed to significantly improve its shipping processes, leading to increased operational efficiencies and reduced costs across the organization. Streamlining Attendance Tracking using a Custom Application

Presented by:
Tiffany Schott, Turner Industries Group

Abstract:

Turner’s Pipe Fabrication facilities were manually tracking employee attendance in three offline systems. From corrupt spreadsheets to individual employee files which resulted in a cumbersome process that consumed valuable hours of HR clerical time each day. This inefficiency not only hindered the aggregation of historical employee data but also made it nearly impossible to provide timely notifications to foremen and employees regarding attendance issues. To address these challenges, Turner implemented a custom application within the E1 system that streamlined the tracking of absences, late arrivals, early departures, and other relevant events. This custom application also allowed for automated reports and notifications via ReportsNow, significantly enhancing the efficiency of the attendance management process. By centralizing data and automating notifications, the application reduced the HR clerical workload by an impressive 40%, freeing up time for more strategic HR initiatives. Additionally, the implementation of this application across all facilities has fostered consistency and improved communication regarding attendance management. With all locations utilizing the same E1 application, Turner has not only improved operational efficiency but also created a more cohesive work environment. Enhancing Cycle Counts Leveraging Standard JDE Functionality

Presented by:
Nathan Diamond, Ajinomoto Foods North America

Abstract:

Learn how we deployed cycle counting within our environment to provide automatically generated and randomized cycle counting based on item priority. We explain not only how we automated and randomized count generation, but also how we handled work days, backdated cycle counts, monthly and daily accuracy reporting, accuracy tolerance, staging locations, lot level accuracy, and recounting. We also explain lessons learned and potential pitfalls that we discovered throughout implementation at each facility. Prior to implementation, each facility was counting outside of JD Edwards in different ways, with no real way to track performance. Now with our new process we are closer obtaining the goal of not having fiscal year end wall to wall cycle counts. While we did have some development work, standard cycle count functionality was 100% unmodified. This session is eligible the following CPE credits: NASBA

Retrofit vs. Low/No Code: Replacing legacy customizations with UDO & Orchestrator solutions

Presented by:
Marcie Herrel, The MASYC Group, Inc.

Abstract:

As part of any EnterpriseOne upgrade project, there will be customizations to applications and reports that must be retrofitted to vanilla objects after accepting the latest code from Oracle. Traditionally, this retrofit endeavor would be undertaken with the expectation that majority of modifications would carry-over unless perhaps a new application functionality was introduced by Oracle that replaced the customization. Jump to today with the latest no/low code tools available from Oracle, such as end-user Personalization and configurable User Defined Objects that includes the Orchestrator Studio, JD Edwards clients can now replace their legacy customizations with the appropriate UDO configured solution. With the goal of eliminating customizations that can be replaced, MASYC’s approach to retrofitting versus implementing no/low code configured solutions ensures your company optimizes the newest technological offerings while only retaining customizations that give strategic advantages to the business. This approach results in less customizations to the system post upgrade and thus helps maintain an easier upgrade path going forward. This session is eligible the following CPE credits: NASBA

Abstract:

Creating a business case for upgrading to the latest release of JD Edwards is difficult for many organizations. Better adoption of the system through an improved user interface: enhanced visibility to business operations through intuitive screens: and even faster response to support issues are “nice to haves:” but they are primarily “soft” benefits. Most organizations need a business case comprised of tangible: hard-dollar benefits in order to justify both the out-of-pocket and opportunity costs of an upgrade project. This case study presentation will describe how a JDE customer built an upgrade business case by finding improvement opportunities within their key business functions. Seamlessly consolidating and revamping JD Edwards Security: How Martin Marietta enhanced ERP Role Management, Streamlined SoD Monitoring, and Improved the Audit Efficiency.

Presented by:
Vidhya Ranjani Murali, Martin Marietta

Abstract:

Martin Marietta Materials, US-based leading building materials supplier, is a long-term user of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. To support their growth and changing needs, as part of a larger, company-wide transformation initiative, Martin Marietta decided to consolidate security configurations from two distinct separate instances of JD Edwards into a single shared instance while maintaining two separate Security Workbench tables (one for production and one for all non-production environments) within the shared instance. This initiative gave them the opportunity to evaluate and update their security model. Reliable security is a critical factor in any large ERP implementation project, but specific priorities change over time: • At the outset, it’s crucial to have powerful tools to create a robust a security model, with efficient role design as well as a reliable means of identifying and fixing Segregation of Duties (SOD) conflicts. • Once the consolidated system was live, the focus increasingly moved towards ongoing management of efficient role design and monitoring of SOD to streamline fraud detection and prevention. Objective 1: Find out how Martin Marietta went about consolidating their roles, resulting in security that is much more effective and easier to manage. Objective 2: Discuss how Martin Marietta maintained integrity to support multiple security workbench tables simultaneously. Objective 3: Discuss the challenges and considerations of implementing and sustaining efficient access and SoD controls in JD Edwards In conclusion, the merger and consolidation of two JDE instances into one provided a more streamlined, scalable secured ERP system to the customer. Learn how not only a consolidated system is more efficient, but also how it has provided the opportunity for clean security data to be merged; eliminating ‘junk data’ and making the security audit easier. The Paradox of the IT Leader: Balancing Stability and Innovation in 2025

Presented by:
Craig Crawford, Allari

Abstract:

This presentation addresses the critical challenges enterprise IT leaders face as they navigate the conflicting demands of operational stability and transformative innovation. John, founder of Allari, will unpack the “IT Leadership Paradox,” which forces leaders to make difficult prioritization decisions that impact their ability to deliver consistent performance while driving growth. The session explores systemic barriers within IT organizations, including resource limitations, recurring inefficiencies, and the reactive cycles that hinder progress. It also examines the ethical responsibility of vendors in aligning their solutions with the readiness of IT organizations, emphasizing the need for sustainable innovation practices that deliver long-term value rather than short-term fixes. With actionable insights, the keynote will provide strategies for leveraging metrics like Change Success Rate (CSR) and Throughput of Effective Change (TEC) to build trust, demonstrate IT’s value, and transform operations. The discussion will highlight the role of “footholds”—incremental adjustments that stabilize operations and create the capacity for innovation—helping IT leaders position their teams as strategic enablers of organizational success in 2025 and beyond. Abstract:

An initial Proof of Concept was performed using the delivered PeopleSoft Payment Request functionality. However, the delivered PeopleSoft Payment Request form did not have the SRS required fields and controls to meet all Non-PO APV requirements. SRNS IT Developers; designed and developed a bolt on Payment Request system was created to replace the Site-Wide Forms. To accommodate SRS specific requirements a custom bolt-on fluid self-service interface called the “SRS Payment Request Center” was created to enable more flexibility of the user interface and provide tailored workflow to each site-wide form individually. Using AWE (Approval Workflow Engine), the delivered PS Payment Request processes will process data through the voucher build process to create a voucher to be processed into a payment. Using Technology to Enhance and Support PeopleSoft

Presented by:
RG Yule, Evergy Inc.

Abstract:

Learn how Evergy has implemented various technological tools to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of supporting PeopleSoft. All of it is “citizen-developed” technology, meaning these tools were created by business users rather than IT professionals, using low-code or no-code solutions. Key technologies used include a Power BI “Lite Brite” dashboard, which connects to PeopleSoft data via a data warehouse, for monitoring various metrics such as change request errors, items/manufacturer issues, inactive requesters/buyers, POs not emailed, and more. Additionally, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is used for data input, invoice retrieval, automating resolution of process monitor failures, and enhancing workflow notifications paired with PS Schedule Query. They’ve also developed a chatbot to encourage user self-service for policies, procedures, and even feeds ticketing systems. To Gen AI or Not to Gen AI: That is NOT the Question

Abstract:

Not all AI is the same. Not all methods of using AI are the same. They are certainly not equally priced or secure. Hundreds of models exist, every software package now includes AI, but do you understand the differences? Which one should you use? What if the secret was not which model or AI, but rather HOW you use them? We will bring over 8 years of experience deploying AI in the enterprise to let you in on some of our secrets. How do you balance data security with functionality? How do you take a user centric approach vs a software vendor approach? This session will start by informing you of the different choices and the pros/cons including GenAI and LLMs. How do you manage the risks and shortcomings in your project? We will conclude with a demo of the possible against the backdropof an Oracle customer. With AI you can choose any two of the following: Cheap, Fast, Good (and Secure). Walk-ups will only be accommodated on site as space allows. Note: Registration is limited to customers only. This hands-on workshop is designed to introduce participants to the core capabilities of JD Edwards Orchestrator Studio, with a strong focus on the foundational components that business analysts can immediately put to use. Whether you’re new to Orchestrator or looking to deepen your understanding, this session will give you the tools to start building smarter, more efficient business processes. Participants will learn how to build orchestrations using key components such as service requests, rules, form requests, and notifications. Through guided, hands-on exercises, you’ll gain the skills to automate data collection and updates, trigger alerts, and improve operational efficiency within JD Edwards EnterpriseOne—all without writing code. For developers, the workshop will also provide a high-level overview of how Orchestrator can be extended through custom logic, external API integrations, and orchestration inputs/outputs—demonstrating the flexibility and power of the tool when more advanced customization is needed. *Please bring a laptop with access to a browser as well as access to your own EnterpriseOne environment and Orchestrator Studio instance for the same E1 environment to this session to participate.
