Hosted by Chandra Wobschall and Paul Houtkooper

Hey everyone – Chandra and Paul here! In this episode of The JDE Connection, we had the pleasure of talking with Nick Velharticky, Principal Tech Support Engineer at Oracle, about one of our community’s most powerful (and sometimes overlooked) resources: LearnJDE.com.

If you’ve ever gone down a rabbit hole on LearnJDE, you know exactly what we mean when we say it feels a bit like IKEA—you go in looking for one thing and suddenly discover five other things you didn’t even know you needed.

Doctor’s Office or Shopping Mall?

Nick made a great comparison that really stuck with us:

  • My Oracle Support is like going to the doctor, you’ve got a problem, you need a prescription, and you’re there to fix something specific.
  • LearnJDE is like going to the mall, you’re browsing, exploring, and maybe stumbling into new features, tutorials, or tools you didn’t know existed.

Both are valuable, but LearnJDE is the place to explore what’s possible.

Features We Loved Hearing About

Nick walked us through some of the coolest parts of the site, including:

  • Release Comparisons – Want to know what’s different between Release 24 and 25? There’s a built-in comparison tool that creates a PDF report showing all the new features, improvements, and certifications. Perfect for building a business case for an upgrade.
  • Integrated Tools – We learned about how Performance Workbench, once a separate download, is now integrated into Server Manager. If you’ve ever struggled with slow reports, this tool helps pinpoint exactly where the problem is.
  • Platform Certifications – Quickly see which browsers, databases, and platforms are supported in the latest release, and which ones are being retired.
  • Learning Paths & Tutorials – From Oracle by Example (step-by-step guides) to quick video demos, there’s something for every learning style.

The Power of Curiosity

One of our favorite parts of the conversation was Nick’s point that JD Edwards rewards curiosity and humility. Nobody knows everything about an ERP system this big, but if you’re curious, willing to explore, and willing to ask questions, you’ll go far. LearnJDE is the perfect playground for that curiosity.

Orchestrator & Beyond

We also touched on Orchestrator—how it enables automation that some people now assume requires AI. From IoT-enabled refrigerated trucks to predictive maintenance, Orchestrator is a game-changer, and LearnJDE is full of resources to help you dive deeper.

Why This Matters

Whether you’re a BA, CNC, developer, or business user, LearnJDE is there to:

  • Help you stay current with new features.
  • Give you tools to build upgrade cases.
  • Expand your knowledge outside your comfort zone.
  • Connect you with step-by-step resources you can use right away.

If you’ve been meaning to explore LearnJDE but didn’t know where to start, this episode is your sign to go take a look. Trust us—you’ll find something useful (and probably get lost in the best way).

Until next time, let’s keep learning, sharing, and laughing together.

Toodles!
